Chapel by the Sea to Dedicate First Peace Pole in Clearwater, Florida, Marking 75 Years of Faith and Unity
Chapel by the Sea, a cornerstone of faith on Clearwater Beach, is set to make history with the dedication of the first Peace Pole in the city of Clearwater, Florida. This monumental event, scheduled for 11 am on January 7, 2024, marks the commencement of a year-long celebration of the Chapel’s 75th anniversary.
A Peace Pole is an internationally-recognized symbol, embodying the collective hopes and dreams of the entire human family. These silent sentinels stand in prayerful vigil for peace on earth, bearing the powerful message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in different languages on each of their sides. With over 250,000 Peace Poles dotting the globe, they serve as monuments to peace, inspiring unity and uplifting human consciousness.
The Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony will be an integral part of Chapel by the Sea’s anniversary celebration. The installation, scheduled for 11 am, will be preceded by a special worship service at 10 am, observing Epiphany, the day in Christian tradition marking the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child, pointing to the universality of God’s grace and the inclusive nature of the Christian message, inviting people from all walks of life to share in the divine light.
Following the dedication ceremony, the gathered community is invited to join a potluck luncheon. The day’s festivities will culminate with the launch of a special service project, “75 Acts of Service,” encouraging participants to perform small acts of peace and kindness for 75 days—one day for each year of Chapel by the Sea.
Reverend Rhonda Blevins, the spiritual leader of Chapel by the Sea, expresses the significance of the Peace Pole dedication: “As we embark on our 75th year as a beacon of faith on Clearwater Beach, the Peace Pole stands as a timeless symbol of our commitment to peace and unity. It not only represents a milestone for our community but serves as a powerful reminder that peace is a shared responsibility, transcending borders and languages.”
The dedication ceremony welcomes all members of the community and beyond to participate in this historic occasion. Chapel by the Sea extends a warm invitation to everyone to join in the celebration, fostering a spirit of togetherness and love.
Please Note: There will be no morning worship on Sunday, December 24.
